Artists Profile
Cecy Richardson moved to Florida in the late 1980's and began taking art classes at Manatee Community College and at local art centers. She enrolled in her first printmaking class and was hooked on it. She loved the hands-on aspects of linoleum cutting, etching and monoprinting.
"I like the tactile feel of using my hands to carve out and create art," she says. Cecy does not have an art background, but she has always carried a sketchbook and pencil, even when living on a sailboat in California. She now lives year round in Cortez, where anywhere you look, you can find inspiration - from seagrape leaves to an abundance of sky, birds and fish.
She has exhibited and won awards in juried shows and has had her designs chosen for posters and T-shirts in California and Florida.
