Artists Profile
If you like the vibrant colors of the Caribbean and dream of tropical beaches, soft, beckoning coral pink sand and warm turquoise waters, you will love the watercolors of Barbara Orear.
Barbara Orear is a native Chicagoan who moved to Longboat Key, Florida, in the early 1970’s with her husband Joe, a retired Air Force/ANG pilot. They had become avid boaters and fell in love with the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the fantastic Bahamas. They discovered scuba diving and sailing, which provide the subjects for many of Barbara’s watercolors.
Barbara studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago, Indiana University, Hilton Leech Studios, Ringling School of Art, Longboat Key Art League, Manatee County Art League and Art in the Mountains..
