Artists Profile
Barbara Hines, an Anna Maria Island artist, is an environmentalist. Hines' paintings reflect her love and respect for our world and the
creatures wit whom we share it.
Hines is known for her whimsical and heart felt art depicting Anna Maria Island and the nearby area. Her painting touch your heart and bring a smile to your face.
An intuitive artist who works in watercolor, oil and fiber, Hines did not begin painting until she retired to Anna Maria Island. Hines, formerly
an attorney and judge in Indiana, spends much of her time working to preserve the fragile environmnet and creatures of the area through ManaSota-88.
Hines is also president-elect of the Manatee Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and volunteers at Our Daily Bread and Family Promise through the
Fellowship. She also knits baby blankets that she donates to migrant workers.
Hines' love for the island is evident in her paintings, ranging from the imaginative and whimsical Island Trolley filled with critters and
Bird Bands to the realistic birds, turtles and local inhabitants. Hines' work is on display at Island Gallery West, the Anna Maria Art League, and held
in private collections.
