Artists Profile
Anne Abgott maintains studios in Cortez, Florida and Linville, North Carolina. She has been accepted into a number of National Shows and has won many major prizes, which are very validating. This helped Anne establish her name and, as a result of this, she is asked to teach all over North America and Canada. Her teaching skills are becoming legend in Florida.
Anne, a signature member of the Florida Watercolor and Philadelphia Watercolor Society’s, teaches locally at Art Center Manatee in Bradenton, FL, as well as Art Center Sarasota, and she has been on the faculty at the Ringling School of Art.
Anne served as President of the Florida Watercolor Society in 2006 and, presently, serves on their Board of Directors. She is also Past President of the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society and a current Board Member, as well. Anne is a longtime member of the Board of Directors of Art Center Manatee in Bradenton, FL, and is Chair of their Education Department. Anne’s other affiliations are with the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and FLAG, as well as the National Pen Women of America and the Contemporary Women's Art Group.
In 2008, Anne has had great success with “One Woman Show’s” at the Art Cellar in Banner Elk, NC, Art Uptown in Sarasota, FL, and Art Center Manatee in Bradenton, FL. Anne received the honor of “Best in Show from the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society. One of her works was hung along with the Florida Watercolor Society’s Show in September in Delray Beach, FL. Additionally, Anne has received awards, at 3 separate shows held this year at the prestigious Ringling School of Art, Longboat Key Campus.
In 2007, Anne was once again accepted into the prestigious National Watercolor Society Exhibition. She also received the “People’s Choice” Award at the Florida Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition and won one of the top awards in the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society’s show at the Ringling School - Longboat Key Campus and the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society Show in New York.
Anne’s is the author of this year's #1 Best Selling fine arts book, "Daring Color," published by North Light Books. It is available through book stores across the US, Canada and Europe and at Amazon.com.
